If being an event presenter, the fact that the success of your casino event is directly proportional to the number of tickets you sell manages to shock you, you’re just not deep enough into the profession. In fact, you’re not even close to being a pro. At the same time, if you think making people buy your tickets is going to cost you a lot of promotion and marketing money, you need to pack your desk and find another job because selling more tickets cannot only be cheap, it can be downright free if you try these methods:

  1. With over 1.49 billion active monthly users, Facebook houses practically everyone. So, you have the entire world for your audience. For the cherry on top, Facebook offers casino event pages and other strategies to reach out to your target audience using features that are either extremely cheap or completely free.
  1. And since we are talking about free, who doesn’t like discounts? From a customer perspective, it’s a tendency to buy anything that comes with an alleged discount or freebies. Early bird discounts and word to mouth deals are the no-risk classics, but you could also try other offers that guarantee maximum participation.
  1. A hashtag is the easiest way to create a #buzz. Create a crisp hashtag and use it everywhere, including the website you’re selling tickets on. It’ll register your casino event in the minds of your potential attendees and serve as a gateway when they want to actually register.
  1. Getting them interested in the step second to grab their eyeballs. Your landing page should have one amazing image or teaser that gives the general idea about your casino event and aims at captivating the hearts of the audience. If you get them excited about the event, nothing can stop them from buying the tickets. Basically, show them what their money is worth.
  1. Once you have their attention, tell them the finer details of what all they’re getting with their tickets. Wherever you’re selling your tickets, make sure the important details and descriptions of your casino event are available to the customers.
  1. Use Yapsody’s social media widgets to share your casino events directly on your Facebook and Twitter once you’ve put them up on your Yapsody webpage. This will make sure your customers are updated about your casino events without delays.
  1. Seek local media’s attention. Find bloggers, journalists, or shows that are related to the theme of your event or your industry, and request them to mention your casino event on their platforms. Give them the important details about your event – the what, where, when, and how – so that if their followers are interested, it’ll be easier for them to reach you.
  1. Set your ticket prices wisely. Make sure the prices are worth whatever your event is offering them. At the same time, don’t keep it too low or you may come off as unworthy.
  1. Your ticketing websites are only meant to provide you with a platform to sell tickets, so relying on them to also promote your event effectively would be foolishness. You know your audience better than anyone else, hence, your strategies are bound to work out. Also, emails from a ticketing service may also be regarded as spam by your customers.
  1. Yapsody offers you 24/7 help through email and a live chat. You could also drop by at our office and seek our advice or just chill with us. Apart from that, our FAQ section, Support section, and blogs will help you optimize your promotional strategies in order to make your casino event a success. We can definitely get you all the ingredients you need, but coming up with the master dish is your act. And we trust our presenters to be amazing cooks that way!

If you’re a beginner and just getting comfortable with event promotions, you might have had a lot of people giving you the same kind of advice – You have to promote your event across the social media; that is the cheapest mode of advertisement, and also the most effective. And along with this piece of wisdom, you have gazillions of blogs and articles and books telling you what social media marketing is all about. But, if you’re an event presenter (amateur or pro) it’s not an alien fact that there is never enough time to sit down and read so much.

So, here are the top 5 social media marketing tips that will ALWAYS work for you:

  1. Click-n-Tag: Taking pictures at happening events and tagging people in them will boost your brand’s popularity amongst your target audience. Go out, discover new events, and if there is a necessity, hire a professional photographer to click these pictures that you can later upload on your event page and tag people in them.
  2. Share: Every one of your posts on your blog/website should have share buttons that let your readers and visitors share these posts across all social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn etc.)
  3. Hashtags and Shoutouts: These work really well on Twitter. You can trade shoutouts with other influential brands and people, so that their followers get introduced to you, and you introduce your followers to them as well. Also, create a unique and crisp hashtag (that is easy to remember) for your event, and use it EVERYWHERE.
  4. Find Out: There are various sources from where people can find out about your event, and you have to be well aware of these “sources”. Find out the event listing websites that list out local and/or national events and also other people and groups who might be responsible for spreading the word.
  5. Partners: Your sponsors, partners, guest speakers, and team members can work wonders if you turn them into your event’s ambassadors. Ask them to blog, tweet, and post about your event online, and in return, you can even offer them incentives to do the same.

The event industry has always been a competitive one, and social media marketing is used by almost every event presenter out there. So, it isn’t predictable whether your strategy will work in exactly the way you thought it would, but that shouldn’t stop you from trying. While you continue employing the basic measures for online promotion, keep experimenting with new techniques and keep a tab on what does and doesn’t work for the audience you’re targeting.

You can have a killer line-up and a flawless ticketing page, but without a social media event promotion plan, your audience won’t know about your event. Word of mouth used to work well but in this age of sold-out ticket phases, building the initial hype online that follows up to your event is absolutely crucial. Read on to discover event promotion strategies that you can try for successful event marketing.

1. #Promotion

If you don’t have a hashtag for your event, create it. Posters, flyers, tweets, pictures, emails – anything related to your hashtag should be posted along with your event hashtag. Ask your friends, relatives, sponsors, speakers, colleagues, and employees to use it whenever they are talking about the event. If your hashtag is a buzz, your event is going to ‘bee’ awesome. Sometimes, event promotion websites pick up your hashtags and tweet it.

2. If Money Speaks, Influence Sings.

Reach out to influencers related to your event using websites like www.buzzsumo.com, and ninjaoutreach.com. Gently convince them to spread the word about your event in return for free event giveaways, or simply ask them if there’s anything you can do to return the favor. Don’t push them, though, as it might have an adverse effect on the  you present.

3. Chat ‘em up!

Leave comments in popular blogs and forums that are frequently visited by your target audience. You can answer relevant questions on Quora and contribute regularly on Facebook groups in order to get recognized amongst your potential attendees. This will boost your Facebook event marketing and mark you as someone who’s reliable and approachable.

4. Be My Guest!

After many interactions, you’re bound to find an interesting and relevant topic to write a guest post on. These are typically 500-1000 words long, and you can send them to blogs where you’re active or the blogs that usually post similar content. If they agree to put up your post, you’ll be able to tap their followers for your own event or concert. And even if they don’t, you’ll still have some fresh content for your own blog. It’s a win-win, anyway, so why not?

5. Three Wise Men

Call up 3 sponsors, speakers, or event partners, and see what’s up with them. Maybe they are stuck in a tight spot with their roles at the event and could do away with some help from your end. Try to help them out if they need anything, and this will let them have a positive outlook towards you and the event. And, who doesn’t like talking about good things?

And if you’re on Twitter, you definitely know what I’m talking about. On the other hand, if you’re not on Twitter, minimize this blog, go make a Twitter account and then come back and read it. Now, you can imagine that if you need to be on Twitter even to read a blog, what significance it carries if you’re an event presenter looking forward to promoting your event to sell your event tickets.

  • Don’t use it to Promote your Event

Now, before you raise your eyebrows at me and be all, “What the hell is this woman talking about?!” just let me get to the part where it starts making sense. If you’re going to use Twitter as a sales tool to keep ranting about the deals you’re offering and the goodies up for grabs, your followers will start falling out of the tiny interest zone you managed to create. Instead, use it as a marketing tool and give your followers more of what they want to know instead of what you want them to know. Provide infographics, links to interesting stuff related to your event or industry, sneak-peeks, pictures, and other engaging stuff to keep your followers intact. What’s better – telling a boring story and expecting people to keep joining in or collecting an audience with an engaging anecdote first and then releasing your story on the crowd?

  • Get Your Ducks in a Row

It would be foolish to use your personal Twitter account to tweet to potential clients, because there are two diametrically opposite ways in which one tweets to his friends and his clients. When you’re on Twitter, have a clear idea as to what you’ll be using the account for, in order to target the kind of followers base you are looking to build. There’s nothing wrong in having separate accounts to cater to personal and professional needs, because you don’t want clients thinking that you are too casual, or your friends thinking that you’re, well, weird.

  • Rome was not Built in a Day

And neither will your Twitter followers base be. I might be repeating myself, but Twitter is to be used to make people aware of your brand and industry, about what you’re all about and what you do, and not necessarily about what you’re selling. You have to be more like a teacher, and not a businessman. Also, be a little easy on the hashtags. Not every word with a ‘#’ can create a buzz just like that. Only relevant hashtags work, and you might want to check out www.hashtags.org to get some help on that front. Twitter has also provided some great information about the usage of hashtags and their significance, so it’ll be a good idea to go through it. Remember, using a lot of hashtags can make you look desperate and, worse, dumb.

A few years back if you came up to me flaunting the passes you managed to somehow seize for a very important upcoming conference, I’d probably be charred out of jealousy. Today, if you do the same, both of us can have a good laugh as I show you the YouTube channel that’ll let me witness the same conference live at 1080p resolution sitting miles away from the actual venue. Plus, I can watch it in my pajamas eating popcorn and I won’t even have to pay for the passes!

Back in the days when men had just discovered fire (hyperbole alert), conferences were seen as the best way to obtain quality content. Now, all of that (and a lot more) is available right at your fingertips. While its easy availability is definitely a boon, content ceases to be exclusive nowadays. So, it’s important that you learn to channelize the available content in a far better way than your competitors.

WHEN YOUR EVENT IS BORN…

  1. Make sure they’re more than just attendees

Involve your potential audience in the decision-making process when you’re working out the details of the topics that your event will cover and who’ll be the keynotes. Either conduct forums and let your audience choose from the beginning, or give them readymade choices and conduct polls to see which topic gets voted in by your attendees.

  1. Have twit-bits up for grabs

Organize a contest on Twitter prior to the event or concert. Give away free passes for those who use your hashtag and get maximum retweets, or those who come up with the best tweets about your event. It can be anything, but make sure your hashtag is getting effectively promoted.

  1. Teasers and Spoilers are not that bad, after all

We might whine when we hear a spoiler, but do we skip the post if it says “spoiler alert”? The truth is – give us a few teasers, a couple of spoilers, and your event will already be a buzz. Ask your speakers to let out few sneak-peaks or videos related to their presentations to ruffle up the crowds. You can also try having an email interview with them which can be a great content for your as well as their blogs.

LET IT ‘GET A LIFE’!

  1. A little birdie once said…

…doesn’t matter what it said – if it’s a blue bird, you listen to it right away! Integrating Twitter into your event is a fantastic way to perk it up for your attendees as well as your admirers. Have a crisp hashtag for your event and see how people connect to each other via live tweets. Plus, if you’re having twitter competitions, you’ll be amazed at the kind of typing speed your attendees will pick up for a goodie bag they’ll never use.

  1. Rock-n-Poll, baby!

If they have a fully-functional smartphone, they are going to be a part of it, like it or not. So, let’s choose to like it by conducting live polls. Let them have discussions and Q&A sessions to come up with the topics that they feel should be discussed at the event.

  1. Because A‘Live’ is Awesome!

Go live, and that’s the best you can do. Live Blogging and Live Streaming are the two optimum options when it comes to getting your event live. This way, you can make sure even the ones who aren’t attendees can still feel connected to your event. And maybe the next time they’ll make it a point to be the ones who are streamed, rather than the ones who are streaming.

BECAUSE GREAT THINGS DON’T DIE, THEY LIVE ON AS…

…aftermaths! Most of the conferences see two kinds of people – those who are frantically trying to jot down every point the speakers are saying and those who are the speakers. If you want your attendees to relax and enjoy the event, see if your speakers allow you to share their presentation decks with your attendees.

What did you hire that guy with the fancy camera for if you’re not going to share each one of those snaps online? Make sure all those photos, videos, discussions, slideshows – everything goes viral. The point is to create a buzz big enough so that the ones who decided to turn up relish it, and the ones who didn’t, regret it enough to show up the next time!

A few years back in time, event organizers were usually people who were distinctly spotted in the middle of a mayhem carrying bundles of documents, bills and checklists stuffed hastily in mismatched folders, yelling instructions to their team as their hair shot out of maintenance pretty awkwardly under the band of a lopsided headphone with a mic. Now, however, technology has chilled these species out so much it is difficult to really figure out who is the planner, really! Learn how to squirm your way into this chilled out species by using technology for event planning:

WORK OUT THE SOCIAL MEDIA

When it comes to the internet, even the sky isn’t a limit. Social media is a superlatively effective and cheap medium for event promotion and marketing. You first need to be well aware of the social media hubs of your target audience. While Facebook is used virtually by everyone, Google+ and Twitter are places you’ll find most professionals. Tumblr, Instagram, and Pinterest are places you should resort to if you wish to create a rather colorful buzz. You don’t have to keep desperately trying to sell your event using social media; you just need to keep them engaged and entertained so that they feel connected to your event and your sales will build up on their own. Yapsody provides you with a social media integration tool so that you can easily broadcast your event over various platforms. Also, don’t forget to have a crisp #hashtag for your event!

USE ONLINE TICKETING

Everything that’s online is a buzz, they say. For event organizers who seek to reach out to a large audience, online ticketing is a must. Today, nobody would want to go down physically to vendors or offices to book tickets when you can give them the liberty to buy event tickets while answering the nature’s call (which is a pretty relaxed state to make transactions, by the way). Yapsody is home to a wide range of features that make online ticketing look like a cakewalk to you – the Online Ticket Store, customizable e-tickets, Yapsody mobile and iPad apps only posing as little cherries on the top.

METHODS OF PAYMENT

Customers today feel that it’s almost rude to ask for cash when it comes to payment. And that is only fair, considering how easy and secure the other payment methods are. Make sure the transactions related to your events offer payment gateways that are generally preferred by your target audience. Digitized payment methods ensure that even you don’t lose out on records when it comes to ticket sales and other transactions.

DATA ANALYSIS

This basically involves everything – EVERYTHING – your sales, the requirements of your attendees, channeling your existing data, and everything else that comes to your mind. For your social media management, you can use free tools like Facebook Insights and Google Analytics instead of toggling between your documents. Also, if you’re using Yapsody for your event, we provide you with reports that help you keep track of your statistics, sales, tax reconciliation and so on. As far as channeling your existing data is concerned, we allow you to import your professional mailing list into your MailChimp contact list using our free integration tool.

Technology is only as efficient as the person who’s using it is. Quoting Steve Jobs here, “Technology is nothing. What’s important is that you have a faith in people, that they’re basically good and smart, and if you give them tools, they’ll do wonderful things with them.”
